Why are you looking at the flowers?

You’ve been looking at a bunch of flowers lately, but there’s one thing that hasn’t changed: you’re not the only one.

According to the National Botanic Gardens, the number of flowering plants in Australia has increased by 30 per cent over the past 10 years.

“It’s very important to understand the evolution of flowering, as well as how we’ve changed from where we were in the 1950s,” NAB Chief Executive Greg Thompson told news.com, “The flowering we’re seeing now is actually an adaptive response to changing climates and changing conditions.”

Here’s what you need to know about the new flowering phenomenon.

It’s an adaptive phenomenon in which a plant uses its own resources to reproduce.

“We know that when we look at flowering plants, we see an increase in the amount of light we see in our garden,” said NAB plant expert Dr Stephen McLeod.

“So this is actually part of the cycle of the plant that allows it to produce seeds and pollen.”

But why is it important?

Well, there are two main reasons.

“One, we have to be able to tell when we’re in a drought or in an area that’s dry and when it’s wet we need to be more efficient with our watering,” said Dr McLeod, adding that when it comes to flowering, the “garden becomes more important than the plant.”

“And then the other is when the flowers are flowering in the summer months they’re more efficient than the flowers of the winter months.”

Dr McLeod said the “summer flower” was often associated with warmer temperatures, but that “winter flower” is an expression of the fact that we are “a little bit hotter” in the winter than in the spring and summer.

“You get a little bit of a warming effect in summer and it’s not quite the same effect you get in winter.”

“So, for us it’s really important that we don’t let our gardens get too hot,” he added.

It seems to be working, and while you might be tempted to pick up your garden plants and start watering them, you might also want to consider giving the flowers a little rest.

“If you can see your flowers aren’t blooming as fast or as vigorously as they used to, you can probably consider using your other plants, like the garden plants,” Dr Mclaod said.

“That way you’ll get a better harvest.”

It’s also worth remembering that the plants you plant will also produce seeds, which you can then grow and produce the next season.
